black phosphate wood screws

Black phosphate wood screws are hidden with mud and sanded with sandpaper when they are dry. In a typical installation, place a drywall screw every 16 inches (40.6 cm) in the center of each board. This 16-inch increment represents the center of each frame member or stud. After installing all the screws, use a caulk to finish the surface treatment of the wall. The caulk is applied to the seams between the screw holes and each board. Once the mixture has dried, the walls can be smoothed with sandpaper and painted.

Phosphate coated drywall screws are treated with phosphate coating to make drywall screws not easy to rust and provide a stable foundation for the application of other coatings (such as paint). Phosphate is dissolved in an acid solution. When metal parts are immersed in the phosphoric acid solution, a chemical reaction causes the phosphate to deposit on the surface.
